Department of BioChemistry

Started in 1991.

Recruitment Rules for Faculty

In Jan. 1994, the department of Biochemistry started functioning independently for all activities including investigative services, teaching and training of students. Since, then the department has progressed rapidly in terms of expansion in services, recruitment of able faculty members, paramedical and supportive staff and installation of sophisticated and modern equipments

  • B.Sc. Ophthalmology : The Department is involved in the teaching of  the BSc Ophthalmology students from the Ophthalmology Department .

  • MLT Vocational : The Department also provides training of paramedical students of vocational MLT.

  • Post Graduate Training :  PG Junior residents from the Department of Pathology & Forensic Medicine are posted in Biochemistry for one month and trained for the various biochemical tests and procedures.

  • Thesis of various PG students: The department is also associated with various departments in carrying out the thesis related research work.

  • B.Sc Physiotherapy: The department is also involved in the teaching of BSc Physiotherapy students of the Saket College of Physiotherapy, Chandimandir, Panchkula.

DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY WORK

  • The Clinical Chemistry Laboratory was established in Feb., 1994. Emergency services were started in May, 1997.EQUIP.gif (21038 bytes) Presently the department is equipped with state of the art equipment like:

  • Chemiluminiscence Analyzer : ACS 180 plus, Fully auto analyzer : HITACHI 902, Metabolite Analyzer : Radiometer, Blood Gas Analyser : AVL Compact, Electrolyte Analyzer: AVL 998, Semi autoanalyzers: Erba Chem 5 , ELISA Reader : Tecan, Double beam Spectrophotometer : HITACHI, PCR : Eppendorf, DNA Electrophoresis, Gel Documentation system : Alpha Innotech.
  • In all approx. about 75 parameter are done in the department which includes routine as well as specializedLAB1.gif (89339 bytes) investigations.

  • 24 hr.emergency services are provided for the patient care and about 25 investigations are done round the clock.

  • Starting with 20,000 investigations in the year in 1995, approximately 6,00,000 of different investigations are being carried out in routine as well as emergency.
